hey guys, I've decided to sell my IROC 16s and use my 15" Corvette Ralleys. I was able to get a staggered setup, with 7s upfront and 8s in the rear.

... decided on getting 215/60R15s for front, 275/60R15s rear

the 215/60s will be roughly 25.2" tall, about the same as my current 245/50s
the 275/60s will be roughly 28 tall, towering over my 245s

It's been a while since I've ran this setup and it seems many brands have canceled large sizes like this. The only tires available in both those sizes are BFG Radial T/As

... I don't want Radial T/As. Who else has a tire brand in both those sizes?

what do you guys recommend? Should I go a little wider infront? 225/60s?

Re: getting new tires

thanks,

I also stand corrected... Mastercraft also does those two sizes, although the tire brand is slightly different.
And Mickey Thompson does a Sportsman S/T Radial in 225/60R15 and 275/60R15, and it won't break the bank too much at $130 from summit. And with a T rating, even the Mastercrafts look better than those Radial T/As.

... what do you guys think? My original target was $100 or less... I'm on a tight budget

Re: getting new tires

mastercraft are pretty good. im running a set on my stang . 295s out back.. i talked the guy at the tire shop down to 350 for all 4 tires. cant remember off the top of my head what size up front but i went as thin a tire as i can go. tread wise since im still running 7 wide rims up front.

Re: getting new tires

what's wrong with TA's ?? Classic muscle car look. I myslef prefer the look of the Goodyear Eagles but my wallet does not agree.

Re: getting new tires

Radial T/As are a crap tire. The compound they use is crap and the tread pattern sucks at shedding water. They use an S compound that is only rated to a maximum speed for 112mph, which is less than the shitty tires I use on my minivan. And up here, in Canadian weather, they go hard after a year.

... They do give a great "look" and I guess that's why people keep using them. My big reason for going from 16s to 15s is the look, but I'm not willing to compromise too much performance either.

I'm using Radial T/As right now, but I am not satisfied with them. I blew one up on the drag strip@ only 88 mph, and BF Goodrich would not warranty them, even though there was clearly a defect in the tire. However, I find they actually _do_ shed water pretty well in my opinion....?

I've got this setup, looks better imo than 195 or 205. 225 is just about right

Re: getting new tires

Stock size for a 15" wheel is 215/65R15, which looks good next to a large rear tire.
I run a 235/60R15 up front on my 442, but will be switching back to the stock size when I can afford a fresh pair.

I've got BFG Radial T/A's on my wagon (235/60 and 255/60), and I'm happy with them.

Re: getting new tires

The fastest tires in this class were mastercrafts and the true radial record was set by Jr (aka- - Mike Oxlong) at 6:55 in the rain .. on Primewell 275/60/15's that was a 6.52 at 113 and a 1.49 60 to be exact, lol If your gonna be looking for overall traction and performance thats the best out there they knock the T/A outta the water lol. and pretty darn cheap.

Up here in Canada huh ?? LOL I'm in Toronto.
I used to run the Eagle Tires ( until dad retired and I stopped getting his discount ). Never really noticed much diff between the two. The BFG's are NFG in the rain though.
