Okay so my dad and I bought this 87 regal about 8 months ago as a project. I bugged him to the point that he finally said -"fine we will get a car if you can find one for $1000." I was given a challenge. And what did I find? I found a 1987 buick regal limited on craigslist for $1200. So we went out to take a look at this car, and the only things it had going for it was that it ran, and it had a solid frame. That's about it. Body had rust, in the realm of repairable, had a torn up soft top, 3 different kinds of wheels, and a torn up faded interior in maroon. At the heart of the beast is the scarce (yet still undesirable) 3.8 2bbl non turbo. We asked the guy if he'd take $1000, and he took the offer. We drove it home, and we looked like we were in Uncle buck's car. Everyone stayed back about 1000 ft and everyone else passed us. Anyways we have been working on this car for a while now and paint will be coming up soon. Like I said the car has maroon interior and had chrome trim which we blacked out. The car was originally rare med rosewood metallic, but I was really thinking more along the lines of a white. What is your guys' opinions? Original rosewood, or a nice clean white, which I think goes awesome with blackout and maroon interior.

Welcome! I don't have a solid opinion for you but i wanted to paint my GP a burnt copper orange to it but decided against it as i want to keep it stock looking.. it's your choice though. Post pics of your newly aqcuired G body..

Tough call. Both can look good.
It doesn't backfire like the Uncle Buck-mobile too, does it? 😛
(my car did that once when I was driving through a neighborhood in first gear.. )
If you can get rid of the vinyl top then that would be good for the longevity of the car (and for the looks in my opinion). There might be some serious rust under there.

Oh, I already remove the vinyl top, it was one of the first things I did. Each of the quarter glass windows had a tiny rust hole in the top front corner of them. They were filled with tiger hair and fixed relatively easy. Other than that, no rust under the vinyl top. I think the white would really complement the interior as well as the blackout, and might even hide some of the tiny blemishes. Then again, I'm kind of an all- original guy, and would like the rarity of the rosewood metallic. And actually my car DOES backfire lol, I believe I overtightened the rocker arms and they are holding one of the valves open a very small amount, as it backfires everytime that cylinder is supposed to fire, and they are such tiny backfires you can't even hear them when the air cleaner is on and your in the car. But that is a whole 'nother story.
