Hi all, I'm new to the forum and have a few questions. First off, about me, I am 17 years old and have always had a fascination with cars, trucks, motorcycles, whatever. I also love working on them as well as i have rebuilt a few vehicles. I have always wanted an el camino, more specifically a G-Body El Camino or Caballero. I have looked at several el caminos since I was 14 or so but just haven't found the right car yet mostly due to the fact that I live in the Iowa rust belt. When I do buy one it will not be my daily driver, it will be stored inside and only taken out on nice days. Anyways, my questions. I've noticed that these cars usually have the 3.8, the 4.3, or the 5.0. Ive only seen a handful of the 3.3 200 v6's. How common are these engines in these cars? I know about the rears of the frames, wheel whells, and around all the glass are common spots for these to rot. Are there any other spots or issues I should look for?

Awesomeness, welcome to a great site! Glad to see another El Camino fan here (I've had a 2nd gen.,a 3rd gen., and two 5th gens.). As for rust, you might want to check the floors (especially the rear footwell) too.

Okay, I guess that would make sense.
