Hello I joined your Forum because of Hurst Lightning Rod Shifters. I want to install one in my 2nd Gen Firebird. I figured since some of the Gbody's come with then from the factory, it would be a good place to start. I also want to use the 200 4R Trans. Hoping this will be a good place for information.

Welcome! You've definetly come to the right place for Lightning Rod information. I don't think I've ever seen a Firebird with Lightning Rods. Consider posting a build thread in the "Non-G Body Projects" section, there is plenty of Firebird love here!

Thank you for the welcome. I have been searching the net on how to tell the difference between a 4 and 3 speed lightning rods for weeks. I finally decided to pull the trigger on one I was watching. I get it home and check the detent count and it feels like an 3 speed. Joined this forum and in less than a hour found 88hurstolds post of how to tell. Wish I found you last week!
There goes the car budget again. Have to look for another one!

Well, poke around a little, there may be a guy with a four speed Lightning Rod set looking for a three speed version!

Welcome to the forum. Lightning Rods in a Firebird sounds like a cool idea. Post a wanted ad in the classified section. There are a few guys on here who can come up with almost any part you want.

I agree with Kwik_Cutty88, start a build thread in the non-G section. We love watching projects come together. We love lots of pics too

What all are you planning to do to the Firebird? Years ago one of my friends had an '81 Trans Am. It wasn't that fast but it did perfect donuts!

Stick around for a while and we'll turn you into a G Body guy. Lol. 😀
