New to G/A-Bodies

The TH200 is not a very strong transmission, but they came from the factory behind V8s. I don't think any performance parts are made for TH200s. If you maintain it properly and don't abuse it, the TH200 will last. Start hammering on it and its not going to last very long. You probably don't want to put much power in front of it either. If you need to rebuild, throw the 200 away and build a TH350, it bolts in with no problem.

Yeah, That probably would have been my next question, If a TH350 or a TH400 would bolt up and fit properly, Or if I would have to hammer on the firewall and trans tunnel.

Sounds like you have a project on your hands. I don't know about g-bodies and rust, but I had a '76 Mercury Comet that had a god-awful vinyl top on it and it had holes on both sides right above the drip rails and in the A-pillar. I had to sell it, I am not a body man, mechanical ok, but not rust. I agree that you might need to be looking for another body, it sounds like you have a decent drive train, so now all you need is a shell for it. Unless your like my dad, rust=less weight, less weight=faster 1/4 mile (until something flys off XD). Do what you need to do, but thats what I would do.
