hey there... i am new to G body cars... my fiance and myself bought a 1985 Cutlass Supreme Sedan Brougham... according to the books in it, the car was bought in Delaware and wound up in Nebraska. i bought from a guy that rents from my landlord... the guy bought a 1987 Town Car and was selling this car. he got it from a relation of his in South Dakota on a reservation... the car has its flaws and i expected them since only $350 was paid. my fiance and myself live about an hour north from Omaha, Nebraska...

first the brakes, what were those? they were nonexistant... the previous owner replaced the master cylinder and failed to bleed the system. i did so and now have brakes... i am in need of replacing rear drums and shoes since i hear them grinding, along with the brake cylinders in rear since i could only bleed them by cracking open the line from the cylinder.

also changed out the heater core since it was bypassed. that was not a fun job to do when temps were only reaching teens for high temps. after changing the heater core out only to find out i needed to adjust the blend door... now i need to get in and mess with the doors again since no matter the setting it only works blowing from floor and defrost at same time.

then there is the other faults... i need a different steering wheel since it is almost all bare steel, replace driver door mechanical mirror, change valve cover gaskets, change washer fluid pump, needs a widshield from being badly cracked, think it needs alternator since it squeals the belt at night running heat and headlights...

later down the road, i would like to do a V-8 swap, do some body work and make it look better since it was so neglected... i have been thinking of doing the car in the pea green color like it is stock with metallic and adding a green marble stripe down the side... i have done this paint job before on my ex's car which i can post pics of... i will post pics in another post when i get pics loaded of our Cutlass Sedan to show what i am starting with...

85_Cutlass_Sedan,

Welcome to the site! Man, I can remember working on my cars in the middle of winter, outside in the snow (not fun!). Good luck with your project.

Doug

Welcome!

thanks for the welcome... i am going to take pictures of the car today... dont be too rough on the old beast... it will be getting fixed up and stuff as soon as weather permits.... the car was neglected and i bought it at scrap value pretty much... any rate, here are pics of my ex's car to kinda give an idea about what i wanna do to mine... granted i did the body work and paint on the ex's car... i hope that the pics load up

ok... got out and took pics... i know it is rough, but the car in pics above was faded bad with peeling paint and didnt even run when bought... it also had a door that was caved in and people thought i replaced it since i pulled and worked the metal so well that you couldnt tell it was mashed... lots of block sanding and careful dent pulling and patience is key to getting good bodywork... any rate... below are pics of the $350 Sweet Pea that will be fixed up with time taken to make sure i do it right and not rushed
