Hello all, I have had my 86 Cutlass since march of 96 and has gone through lots of changes in that time. I have also had an excellent condtion 40K mile 83 Hurst along the way and an 86 442 which was actually my wifes car for a few years. I stumbled across this forum while searching for some info for larger front brakes and figured I would join up. I mainly work and focus on 97+ GM fwd cars with the 3800 series 2 supercharged engines as well as specialize in rebuilding performance 4T65E transmissions as well as custom swaps. I swapped in an L67 (3800 series 2 supercharged engine) and 4L60E transmission into my car a few years ago so I could have the best of both worlds....great fuel economy and performance and something drastically different all at the same time.

Welcome! Where are you from? I actually have a 00 Grand Prix GT and love it. Maybe you can help me on doing a L67 swap if my engine ever blows up.

Thanks for the welcomes! I just put a few pics up in another thread for car pics. I am located in Fort Wayne, IN I guess I should add that in my profile. I dont advertise on here and dont want to get in trouble but my website tripleedgeperformance.com and if you have a grand prix than have probably seen me on many of the Wbody forums

"great fuel economy and performance and something drastically different all at the same time." Very cool. There were guys talking about doing this swap over on oldspower.com a few weeks ago. What kind of mileage does she get and have you ever taken her down ye ole quarter mile to see where she is at? I used a grand national tank and in-tank fuel pump in my Olds because its better (for street car) and even cheaper than an out of tank electric and sump or cell. Oh its not even fuel injected its carbed it just took a return style fuel regulator. I checked out your site. You might like www.robertpowersmotorsports.com

welcome to the site, sounds like a nice setup you have using that newer 3.8

Here is the thread where I put some pics of the car and a little more info on it

My 86 has gone through a LOT of changes over the years. It came with the 307 Y engine and tinkering got the best of me and caused a piston ring to break and cause low compression on one cylinder so I was left with the option to stay Olds or change and the SBC 350 seems like the more logical and cheaper option at the time. I had a number of different 350s in the car with TH350, 700R4, and lastly 2004R transmissions-and these are my favorite pic and I have built a lot of them for the GN guys over the years. I got the car to the 13.0 range at around 106mph and it had more in it but the 3200 stall converter didnt agree with the vacuum secondary Holley carb on the car so I put on a double pumper and that cleared it up but never had a chance to get back to the track with it. That was around 2000 and I wanted to go back to Olds power so I stumbled across a great deal on a 1970 455 for a core and built it up. Luckily most of the 307s bracketry worked fine on it although the alt side needed a few mods and the long tubes were a treat to work with! The best that engine got me was a 13.16 at 103.5 and I was pretty dissappointed in that considering I went up 100 cubes and lost a lot of mpg. I tried to base the build off of a Car Craft build that was a BOP shootout at the time and when Edelbrocks alum heads came out for it. I had E casting heads that I ported but had the smaller intake valves in it. That winter I ordered a roller cam, new valves from Mondello, and a host of other goodies and when I tore the engine out to spruce up a bit I was left with an oil pan with slivers of main bearings!!! It turned out the crank had a crack in it and it was just my bad luck I guess, a friend of mine's dad bought a 442 new in 1970 and apperently there was a run of weak cranks and his had the same problem and was fixed under warranty at the time. My engine was apart and this was about the time we bought an 86 442 for my wife and ended up building a 403 for it using the cam from the 455-comp extreme 230ish duration IIRC, same used in the car craft build. That engine out performed the 455 and we got it to run 12.9s at 105, dynoed 295 HP and 365 Tq to the wheels. So there my 86 sat and I got into the Grand Prix scheme after my good friend bought an 00 GTP and I really started getting into the supercharged 3800 stuff and thats when it all started with the V6 stuff.
