Project car? She seems pretty solid already!

Welcome to the site!

My kind of project car ie no major rust or paint work needed. The wire hub caps would be the first to go.

looks like a very good starting point. lovin the t-tops congrats on that!

looks solid, but theres some rust under the doors and rockers that need to be taken care of. the trunk needs some work too. anybody know where i can get a body mount brace or weld in pan for the trunk? i was thinking about fabbing something up out of some thick steel but not sure. i lifted the carpet after i bought it and picked up the body mount 😳

im pretty good with bodywork so after i finish that im going to repaint it, i was thinking 2 tone black and silver.

That is sweet. ah! I see MUD flaps....It has that cool Grandma/Grandpa appeal to it. I say Go with rims, air suspension and a LS1 swap to make things ineresting...Dont forget exhaust and loose the flaps....

update on the car, working on the interior, redid the headliner in vinyl, and working on door panels in vinyl. added the lightning rod setup and painting interior trim pieces black. in about 2 months im going to do the frame off and hopefully pick up a sbo or sbc to drop in along with a 4sp transmission. what would you guys recommend a 2004r or 700r4 as far as easiest to work with and for street use.

I can't speak much for the 200 because I have no experience with it. I have a 700 behind a ZZ4 350 and I love it. It seems to handle the power with out any problems and I get 20mpg with 3.42 gears. As i understand it, transmission builders have realy come a long way with the 700 being able to handle some real power. I think the only thing the 200 has over the 700 in your car is the avalibility of parts(cross member, drive shaft). Your car never came with the 700 but the GN and other gbody's did. I'm not an expert on this issue though.

i am starting to like the 4l60e transmission. but as far as a easy install, i would go with the 700. i how much is your buget as far as a engine? a olds is going to be allot more to build than the chevy. but i do like like the idea of keeping it olds powered.
