So I've been reading this gbody forum for a while. It seems you have a really nice site here. Lots of good information and cool projects. Anyway I have too many vehicles and projects, but one of them is my grandmothers 1978 Chevrolet 2dr Malibu. The car is from California but I have had it up here in Washington for several years. Trying to keep my project running and fix it up slowly. The Malibu has the 231 v6 with @ 130,000 miles on it and that great 200 metric transmission that isn't so great. On the advice of many of the posters on this site last summer I picked up a 2004r on 1/2 day at the pick'n' pull out of an 1985 Cadillac but haven't got to putting it in yet. I found and installed a set of "jounce" bars and found a set of the larger solid front and rear sway bars also installed the radiator brace. Replaced the master cylinder and brakes lines put on some cheep Auto-zone pads for now. Just today I finally got my hands on Spindles/ hubs and Calipers with brackets from the elusive 2000 2wd blazer around here they always seem to be 4wd for a planned future brake upgrade. The same trip I picked up that transmission I also got what appears to be a factory tow hitch to stiffen up the rear frame it seems to help, and a factory AM/FM radio for 10$ to replace the factory AM radio it came with.

Welcome to the site, sounds like you've done your homework you're off to a good start with grams malibu.keep up the good work.

Welcome aboard!
Post some pics of the Malibu...we'd all like to see it, I'm sure.
It does sound like you've gleaned a lot of information from the site and starting to put it to good use.

You found a 200r4 in an 85 caddy?
Yes I found my 200r4 in a Caddy. The one I took home had nice clean fluid and nothing in the pan, I passes on one a few months before that had a bunch of metal in the pan. I havent seen any Gbodys with 200r4 since I started looking they all seem to have th350's which is a great transmission but has the chevy bolt pattern that won't bolt to my buick 231. The 200r4 has several bell housings, mine is the multi fit case so I can put it in the car and drive and when I'm ready bolt up a chevy v8 or well anything gm since it has both BOP and chevy pattern.
