Actually I have 2 new toys.. I sold my autocross car this summer and with the proceeds I got a great deal on a 97% clean 63 Riviera, and the GP, with $ left to burn.
I decided not to alter the Riv, since it's all original and only has 64k. My wife has since claimed it for herself, due to me not being able to build it for a hot rod. She's madly in love with the car. I'm going to work on it and paint it next spring/summer.

Now to the good stuff:
I saw this ad for the GP on craigs about 2 months ago. I assumed it was rusty or full of bondo, being it had a cheap paint job (you could tell in the photos). It was only about 30 miles away, but a direction I never go for any reason.
Finally I got bored on Saturday poring over ads and websites searching for a Gbody. So I drove over there to check it out.

This is what I found in the glove box:

That stuff all over the place is the headliner insulation. I tore it out before I drove the car home (in 2nd gear the whole way-bad transmission) because the headliner was falling all over.

Is that the blue GP with the tan leather viscount bucket seat interior that needed a trans from the little dealer in Shakopee? I went and looked at that car a couple months ago...

Oh, it is...

The GP is gonna get a 5.3 engine with a carb, a 700r4 (a guy just delivered a crossmember for me today..free delivery!) and a 8.5" posi. Hoping for 400hp at the crank, and 25 mpg on the highway

I hope you didn't try to drive it! What a fright that driveline is. I shot him an offer and he took it right away 😀

Nope, didn't drive it, but I looked it over quite thoroughly... I was extremely tempted!

I just didn't have the space or time for another project, even though I have an extra trans for it and probably could've had it on the road in a day or two... Glad it went to a good home!

Why YES it does! I had no Idea.. Just went out there with a magnet.

So is that braggin' rights?? 😀

Just so you guys know... (hint, hint)

I'm gonna need:

8.5" 10 bolt rear
A set of trim to get rid of the vinyl top- MANDATORY
Rear bumper fillers. Fronts seem ok so far
The rubber pieces that wrap around the bumpers
Another gauge pod like mine to put more gauges in place of the air vents on the dash
Some stainless looking 2" gauges: a/f ratio and a vacuum gauge to start. I don't know if these even exist
Some LS1 engine mounts
LS1/700r4 adapter
F-body LS1 oil pan, pickup tube and dipstick
accessories and brackets
Help figuring out what color to paint it

I live in MN and will gladly pay for packaging and shipping. Or if you guys could post a link to where to buy this stuff it will save me a lot of time searching. Thanks alot

Nice,

I've seen that car many times on the local cl. Never went to look at it though. Hope you enjoy it!
