I have an 86 cutlass with a 307 and its my only car. I want to know if there are interchangable parts for a chevy 350 such as headers, carb, ect. I want to put a 350 chevy in it when i get another ride or should i just put in an olds 350? And i have some headers for the chevy will they work on the olds?

A 350 Chevy is a completely different engine than an Olds 350. Put an Olds 350 in it since that's what your car is already setup for. All Olds small blocks are the same externally.

I'm thinking that there may be a bit of confusion here. Both Chevrolet and Oldsmobile built a 307 engine. The small block Chev 307 was built from 1968-1973, and the 307 Olds was built from the early '80s until 1990 or 1991. Parts aren't interchangeable between the 2 engines. You can swap engines within both engine families. Your car should have the 307 Olds in it.

That's true but I think it's a pretty safe bet that since we're talking G-Bodys that anyone refering to a 307 is refering to an Olds 307.

It is at least conceivable that someone who may not be as knowledgeable on the subject might possibly become confused, particularly when both engines were built by GM. I was only trying to help, as I'm sure you are DoubleV.
