i found an 87 cutty on craigslist with 39,000 original miles. for 3900$. just one question. what all is involved to turn this car to floor shift? i know the column stuff. but this car doesnt have a console so what do i have to do to mount the shifter to the floor.

Well once you have the shifter and shift cable all you have to do is drill some holes in the floor, get some nuts bolts and spacers and mount it.

just remember to remove the old linkage from the column and trans

Don't remove the old linkage from the column to the trans, as it is there on factory floor shift cars to control the mechanical neutral saftey, as well as the reverse lights. You just need to pull the shifter lever out of the column.

that will only work if he has the correct trans selector on the transmission.

if going aftermarket shifter there is no part supplied to mount both

if pulling it out of a factory floor shift parts car then definetly take everything so you can do what Blake442 said.

I installed a B&M Megashifter in place of the shitty stock shifter.
I mounted the factory lever to hook the column linkage to right on top of the lever supplied by B&M for their cable.
