I haven't had heat in my 80 Cutlass cruiser all winter.
I got home one evening, pulled the radiator cap off.
There was no pressure. The radiator was full. And it looked as though there was no circulation.
Is it
1) Radiator cap
2) thermostat
3) water pump
I'm guessing water pump, but it doesn't over heat? I'm kinda stumped here.
Ant help would be greatly appreciated.
The engine is a 455 w/o air.
I don't know if I put this in the correct area 😳

If you can feel hot water going in and out of the heater core then it is the cable that pulls the air diverter open and shut. Pull the face plate off the radio bezel and make sure the cable is attached to the slider and the little washer is still holding the cable on.

If you are not getting hot water in or out of the heater core replace the thermostat and the cap. Cheap and easy to do. If that does not work replace the cheap heat valve that is between the manifold and the heater core. If all else fails replace the water pump. That is the hardest thing.

There is also a chance your hoses or the heater core is clogged with debris... but that is the worst case.

There is no heater valve, just a nipple coming out of the intake. The car is non a/c equipped.
I was thinking the cheap things first as well. I'll double check that cable as well.

there would still be a diverter flap to go between outside air and running air over the heater core.

the cable might have come lose from either end. You should be able to hear a difference in air noise open and shut and hear the "thud" when it slams open and shut.

Is the car running at operating temp? If not, it's likely just a thermostat.

I access my vent door flap thru my glove box. you will see a long threaded thin bolt and that should be connected to your controls for heat/defrost etc.. sometimes that plastic piece breaks off. Not sure if that helps you at all

The thing (door) you are referring to, does it have insulation on it?
