No more HF freebies?!?

I remember getting an email from HF sometime around July saying they were doing away with the printed catalogs/circulars and doing an online only catalog going forward. Since then I haven’t actually gone through one to notice if there were still free item coupons or not. Around the same time or shortly after that they came out with the hf credit card and started pushing that pretty hard.

Yeah, I know, most of it was junk. Just like most of their stuff. But this one I liked. You can pry it apart and change the batteries.

That is why I went there yesterday. Super heavy duty tarps on sale. Silver on one side and black on the other. Outlasts the cheap blue ones which are only good for one winter. Email coupn I had to print out but the savings were worth it.

A manager at my Harbor Freight told me that they got bought by Amazon a couple months ago. I have already noticed that a lot of the useful, inexpensive stuff is no longer on the shelves.

Can't find anything on Amazon buying Harbor Freight other than a April Fools day joke on garagejournal.com from 2019. They also had one in 2016 with Snap On being a majority owner. Everything else still list Eric Smidt as owner/founder.

What the manager at HF told me.

It is a very bright LED flashlight with a magnet on the back. It is actually quite useful but not for the $7.99 I once saw it for. Even a buck is good but free was better.

With those new Icon tool boxes they had to cut out something to make them "affordable" & cover the extra cost of delivery of them.
