No spark

1984 cutlass sbc 350. Just got done a motor swap and now I have no spark. Have power going into the distributor cap into battery location, and also have my tach wire hooked up. If i remember right I am missing the 2 prong plug that sits closest to the cap. Also there is a 3 wire plug hanging off the distributor that isn't plugged in, is it necessary?

the wires that come from the distributor need to be plugged into the cap or the coil will not function
