If its the stock gauge I wouldnt really believe it because there known for problems with age i've been told. I would hook up a mechanical oil gauge. There cheap, very easy to hook up and spot on (99% of the time). If it still jumps around it might be time for a rebuild depending on how bad.smf said:86 GP and the oil gauge is bouncing up and down rapidly - any thoughts as to what it could be?

Ever since I took out my gauge pod awhile back my fuel gauge doesnt work anymore. Im not too worried about it considering it barely worked before. Actually the only original gauge that works in my car is the clock of all things!bill said:-83MONTESS- said:What moter is in it? Just to add a thought...my oil pressure gauge used to jump around some too...turns out it was a loose connection on the sending unit. I cleaned it real good with brake cleaner, bent the tab inside a bit to help it stay on better and it was fine. Could just be a bad sending unit or the gauge could be bad too.
