Hey everyone, I've been lurking for a while, but I thought it was time to join and start participating. I've posted on montecarloss.com and oldspower.com for years as NJCutlass, but somehow I missed out on this board. This one has become my favorite because it focuses on all g-bodies, not just one brand or engine. The Olds forum here is great.
I've owned 5 G-bodies so far. I'm showing my age, but my first one was a 78 Monte I bought in 1985. I've since owned another 78 Monte, a 79 Monte, a 1982 Malibu 4 door, and my current ride which I've owned since 1997, a 1987 Cutlass. In 1998 I swapped the Cutlass over to a Chevy 350 but maintained all computer controls and emissions. It looks like a Monte SS under the hood. I've been driving it this way ever since. I did a lot of drag racing and parts breaking back then, but recently the car has been sitting, only getting about 1000 miles a year. Other than paint, doors, hinges, tires, A/C work, rear, suspension, one control arm, steering box, headliner, carpet, dash, rubber molding, window sweeps, dash lights, etc, etc, it needs nothing.
I guess the car is just a driver on a good day, but it does have a mildly worked 350, 200-4R, and 3.73s, and it's still fun to drive.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to jumping in, and I'll try not to be too opinionated.
Thanks,
Alan B
