That can happen on about any car with a mechanical fuel pump. The shaft/cam that runs the pump has to be oiled or it will wear out, so the problem is inherent to the design of the pump. Back when they first switched to ethanol gas back in the late 70's/early 80's I remember it happened a lot.

A bad diaphragm in the pump will let gas into the oil. Replace the fuel pump.
Thanks for info. Never had a problem, of this nature , with a S.B.C. pump. So...onward.
