olds 350 engine to 200r4

switching engines in one of my 86 442"s and want to use the 200r4 trans and converter with the early 70's olds 350 engine.
which flexplate do i use? and which starter?

too many people telling me different things and dont want to do this twice.

Hi Rick,

You can use the 70's flexplate with the 200 4R trans. It should bolt up just fine. I wouldn't use the 307 starter with a higher compression engine. You might get away with it but you'll likely need some cranking power for the 350. The 307 starter will bolt up but they are not high torque starters.

I actually just swapped an olds 350 in my car a few days ago and i had used a starter off a 260 olds and it works prefect. If you use headers, you should get a heat shield for your starter so its less likely to burn out

I've been using a cheap reman 307 starter on my 350 Olds with decent compression, and no heat shield since I put the 350 in in 2010. I took the starter off the original 307 instead of buying one.... Not a problem ever, I do have headers and she gets hot.
