It all depends on what you can find close to you really. I would try find find an older 350 with 5, 6, or 7 heads. Gas mileage depends on how you drive, and the carb you choose. I'm a Quadrajet fan.

i just want to spin the tires on demand right now i have a olds 307 in the preson i got it from took some of the emission stuff off

a simple gear swap can make a HUGE difference

get a pre-72 350, aluminum intake and quadrajunk, good gas milage, good torque.

Even just timeing & jetting can take your 307 from lazy to a responsive tire fryer. Not a lot after that but she can look & sound cool.
