A or B heads would come on a 64 or 65 425, they have a 45 degree lifter bank and will not work on a 455 with a 39 degree lifter bank. I believe you would have to do a little widening of the pushrod holes in order to make them work.

E heads are good, just about all the heads flow the same with exception of J heads which have EGR bumps.
C's are the best and are very abundant but the flow differences between A-Ga heads is very small.
Ga's have hardened seats (hence the small "a" next to the G), that's one of the minor differences between them all.
Just avoid J's, Ka's are nice if you can find them; D, F and H's are the rarest and command high $$$$. A very nice set can run $5,000-$7,000 and cores can go from $2,000 to $4,000 if you have the right buyer who's restoring a W-30 or Hurst.
Otherwise they don't flow any better than C's... if you really want the most bang for your buck get a set of the new Edelbrock heads with the redesigned chambers by Joe Mondello, a set runs around $1500.

Ok thanks im leaning more towards using the 425 crank or maybe the whole thing considering it will probly need cylinder work. My dad had a set of C heads on his other 455

I've got a 425! pretty much stock, mild cam, .030 over, and a tri power intake off a '67 400, (just need carbs)... I'll probably run an edelbrock performer, with a holley carb until I get the carb situation sorted out on the 3x2...

topped off with a set of the stock stamped "Oldsmobile" lettered valve covers, a dual snorkel air cleaner, and coated in the same color my 260 was.. "gm corporate blue", can't wait to put it in! if the average person looks at it it looks dead stock

Im thinking il build the 425, take FE3X's advice on the BBC rods and the build he posted and paint it gold like my dads Olds engines he uses. I cant wait but im just trying to round up all the parts il need for the change into my car.
