new to the group, just got an 82 bonneville wagon with a 5.7l diesel. Does any know what this engine weighs?
looking at putting my 454 in it but not sure if springs will hold up as a daily driver. wonderng if I should just sell it and go sbc, rather not but, any help would be appreciated. thanks guys.

You could always put in heavier springs. If you do decide to sell the 454, you might want to go with the Caddy 472 or 500 they weight slightly more than a SBC.

just got it out and weighed it, with everything on it, it weighs 132 pounds heavier than my 454 with aluminum heads and aluminum intake. and thats with all accessories. thanks guys.

I thought that would be the case. Those diesel blocks are really beefy and weigh a lot compared to the gas Olds small blocks.
