I can probably find a spacer at the junkyard so don't worry about it. It's easier now that I know what to look for.

I hope that wasn't all you were missing ... cuz if you bought the catalog just for that part number, I kind of feel bad, dunno why but I do.

I didn't buy it for that. I just bought it so that when I take things apart I can get them back together and to know the correct bolt sizes for ones that break etc. But like I said, once I am done with it I am sure I can sell it for what I paid for so there is no loss of money.

Wow that is something really good to have around.

I got quite the library lol ... in fact I probably have too much Olds literature

As the cars aged the parts books were given away to the tech's or customers if they asked. I rember that they had one copy that they would keep for the few customers that would still buy factory parts. The techs would also use it for a referance. I was too slow to get a free copy 🙁 They are a great source of info and I think at $200, It pays for it self after the first few times you use it. I also think it is cool to have original manuale and they tend to keep their value. Bernhard

I've added a little since this pciture, but that's all Delco catalogs, factory manuals, dealer sales lit, Haynes, Chiltons, Mitchell ... the 2 blank white spined books you see on the shelf are books 2 and 3 of the illustrated parts manual. I also have some duplicate manuals on CD-ROM

I go my parts catalog today. Just what I had hoped for. It makes me feel old school when I look at it. Remember going to an auto parts store in the old days and the guy behind the counter would have a huge row of books to look through to find what you wanted? It was a totally different experince visiting the autoparts stores back in those days. There was usually a drink and snack machine for you to take a break with while the found your parts. Good ole days.

That is one nice collection of catalogs.I have a few for the a body olds. I think I will have to start a G body collection, still have lots to learn about them. Thanks for sharing your collection. Bernhard

I started @ western auto probably 1991 so we were in the midst of computerizing things. As such, I learned both. We still had tires and service, that was all hand work orders for atleast my first year. Needless to say. When we started phasing some manuals or new copies came in. I snagged what I could and quickly decided what I wanted.

ya, it's funny when you go to an auto parts place and they ask you what year your car is. And you tell them it's not the stock motor. They can't help you anymore.....I always have my part number before I go in.
