Lol, get a small 1 gal air compressor tank and just use that for dome pressure. Only needs 50psi for a pass. You'll be race ready with that and a cigarette lighter harbor freight pump to top it up between runs... 🤣

Spent the weekend with a grand plan to get tons of sheetz done, but we all know how that goes lol.
I did get the 'Torino' wheel ends welded on the 8.8 and the 35 spline axles and spool are in. Also put in the 5409 springs that seemed to lower the rear about 1 - 1.5", which is what I was after.
It didn't go as planned. The weld in wheel ends are made for 3" axle tubes, which I have. But the Exploder rear is tapered down as it gets to the end. It required me running to the local machine shop to get the ends cut down and a bunch of grinding on the wheel end. If I would've been narrowing the rear to G-body width, then it wouldn't have required as much modification - but hey, why would I do it the simple way :-/ Had some minor shenanigans with the brake spiders as well, but overcame. I had to space the factory Exploder spiders approx 1/8" to get everything setup correct. It required some running around town for parts and hardware.
Installed these - the book is open on how much dropping the back end will help the launching, but I can't believe it will hurt.
Lastly, got started on the CO2 - included a pic of my hot side pipe that boost creeps to 20 psi hehe. Mike has convinced that I need to get some better gate placement - it will be done, but not until I have the time to get it done properly.

I might have to try those rear springs also. I'm looking for something shorter and stiffer than an F41 set.

Yeah - they are kinda stupid lol. When I ordered the stuff from Quick's they were 20 questions about the HP. I was planning on getting 31 spline axles and spool. But they pretty much wouldn't sell me the 31 spline axles at 700whp. I thought I was getting a 'house' spool because they didn't indicate it was anything other than 35 spline spool. I was surprised to see it was a Strange Engineering - after seeing that I felt good about paying $130 for it.
I've done alot of thinking about the money I have in the junkyard 8.8, but I'm still cheaper than buying a Dana 60 or 9" Ford - $1400 give or take $50. Not including my labor of course and also not counting the 600' of welding wire. Should note, that the $1400 includes all 4 arms as well - it's a reasonable price from SSM for the truss kit because the arms are included. And I'm still on the factory brakes from the Explorer.
Been waiting for parts and trying to get little stuff completed. I did manage to get MalibuDave's manual master cylinder installed. Picked up the Afco oversized calipers and YellowStuff EBC pads, just haven't gotten them on yet. Finished up the rear end gig - needed the AllStar spacer to get the bearing wheel end bearing setup correctly - or at least I think correctly - 'bout .001-.002" of end play. And received the CO2 tank bracket for trunk mounting today (yes, Sunday). I'll be grabbing a 5 point seat belt locally this week and cutting down the factory seat frame to get my head away from the cage halo.
Did several wild and wooly burnouts ths week in the parking lot - yikes 😉 Trying to burnoff the old tires because........I can I guess. Also got the Mickey's mounted on the new to me wheels. My son grabbed 2 sets of new 255/60R15's Street SS a week ago that believe will fit on my factory SS 15x7 wheels. Gonna try it anyway. Should help with the cruisin' as they are 1" taller than the stock tires I've been running and perhaps they won't turn to smoke at a moment's notice either.
Is it Spring yet?
