On the 'mildly' Cheap SS Monte Carlo chasing a 9.0___

Viking double adjustable B230’s are in. Hopefully they’ll help me achieve my goal. Seems hard to imagine that they won’t do better than the rusty blue ones.

FYI, Viking recommends 60% of compression of suspension travel, with my setup they are 58% compression of suspension travel. Trick Chassis was the only place I could find a set. Thanks to Jake for the lead on them. And if they suck, then bad kudos to Jake - hehe.

kidding of course - thanks to everyone who has help guide me through this build 👍😜

Hopefully they result in good kudos, I don't need any bad kudos over here haha!!

So if I recall you have 5409 rear springs? Curious where your ride height ends up.

Viking shocks are so nice and shiny they almost look out of place under a car that didn't have a full frame off resto!

I’ve threatened for a while to post some pics of my homemade hot side that I refer to as the Worlds Worst Hotside only because it make 19-20 psi on a 4-5psi spring.
The reason for removal was to replace the T-stat.
I bought a 160 degree thermostat to try to get
my starting line temps down only to realize it won’t fit in my truck water pump housing. So I drilled some holes in it - 4 to be exact. It should work - results of the t-stat mod to follow.
Here’s some pics. I still laugh at this garbage made from scrap pipe we had laying around.

Honestly it doesn't even look that bad lol. You aren't cutting flow off abruptly, no stupid sharp corners.

What braided coupler did you use? I always thought people have issues with them blowing inwards and plugging the exhaust. Is it solid lined?

I know mr BTR did a test where there was like 20-30hp on a stupid high hp setup with a 'ugly' fabbed merge vs a $200 billet flange.

But at your power level and honestly yours looks more flow efficient than the one BTR tested I wouldn't get worked up.

The flex joints are lined. These came from Jegs. I’ve Summit and Vibrant as well. Knock on wood, never had one leak or cause an issue. I’ve made 4 hit dudes using them.

The issue is the wastegate placement. It doesn’t see the same laminar flow that is in the pipes. Also, this won’t build boost as quick as a piped setup. Neither of those are a concern at 5500-7500rpms imo.

The wastegate placement on the BTR setup is much better for controlling low boost than mine, but with no real benefit for the test he was running.

Thanks. Here’s some more of the same.

Master disconnect via 200 SSR. I have to run the alternator charge wire to the relay still
(Ughh).
And a pre-turbo meth nozzle- small guy , like 3-4 gallons per hour. Will get some installed photos attached once it’s in.

Other than was unable to get anywhere to run, a productive weekend (along with wifey stuff.)

If weather holds , big if. I’m going to be running it hard, soon and often!! 😉

Pre-turbo meth, eh? Only a rebel genius would try something so outlandishly brilliant.

Some people would run them like this in the VW TDI world. I'd be worried about the droplets condensing and puddling/pooling before it got to the intake...
