On the 'mildly' Cheap SS Monte Carlo chasing a 9.0___

Need to tighten up that suspension. Front comes up too fast and unloads the car.
Front comes up a bit fast. However you are waiting too long to give it the beans. You need to get the power in as soon as possible while you are still getting good weight transfer. Easing it out of the hole and then ramping it in 80ft out is gunna be tough. Also there is a massive difference between the SS and R tires. Dont get me wrong, plenty of people take the weight break to run the SS and still go way faster than we do, but the R is a significantly better tire.
Car looks nice and level now. Just needs some tweaks.

I need to use wingnutks front suspension limiter system. Not kidding either. That works and I need to get it done. I was checking the brakes last night and looking at where I have to weld on the upper control arms to get that limiter setup installed.

But I do agree with you.

But I do agree with you.
With the proper suspension, you shouldn't need limiting straps. But to each their own!

I agree. But keep in mind on that last run I had turned it down to get it off the line. I can hit at 9-10psi without any CO2 helping on the gate and I had 8 additional degrees of timing out to keep from spinning. I was trying with what I had. The new tires are getting mounted today and I still have a couple of more adjustments I make on the rears.

I didn't see your post while I was referencing Chris' post about adding travel limiters on the upper a-arms. I'm going back at this weekend without the limiters and we'll see what happens. And I'm going to turn on the scramble button as well.

'proper' presently is stock haha.

I understand, but I'm trying to get it done and not spend a crap ton more. I'd like front a-arms and coilovers, but you know what the expense of that is. 2 bolts and two nuts - that fits the title of the thread 🙂

I'm still less than $11K, so $10,___ nd trying keep it there (minus consumables of course).

I'm hopefully going back on Sunday, not to race, only for license runs. And I'll safely tell you it was a long day, left my house at 6:15 and got back home at 6:30. Mix in 10 runs, datalog reading and adjusting the tune - I was frazzled by the time I was driving home time. I was pretty well amp'd up as well. I ate nothing all day, it was in 90's and I consumed 6 16oz Gatorades all day and nothing else. The last 5 runs with the boost controller active required a cool down period for transmission, so I was trying to find shade and playing the game of running the fans and watching the battery voltage and restarting the car for 30 minute intervals while reading logs.

This was also the 1st time I've worn gloves, fire pants and neck collar - of course I bought black ones - I'll reiterate - it was hot.

I'd love to get together though.
 
Let me know if u want some more pics of how I welded the limiters.
You can get away without them if u can get ur front shocks stiff enough on rebound. Went I did mine i still had old 90/10s on the front. With the vikings I have now at full tight, it takes forever for the front end to extend.
Idk if they ship but I got my Rs from SK speed on long Island.
