depends on how much midrange you want out of a 3 1/2 inch speaker.. anything lower than 800 is useless because it will vibrate too much picking up the lower bass.. it depends if you use them essentially as tweeters then you go with something higher, or if you want them to be mids like i did i used an 800 or 1200 .. i cant remember as it was like 4 years ago
