Going by color isn't reliable. Thread a nut onto the gear sleeve to tighten and loosen it to get it out and verify 30t.

Run the car past 15 miles of mile markers on the highway. Does the odometer turn 15.0 miles? If yes, then everything is fine except the speedometer magnetic drive.
