That's gotta be disappointing to see, especially if it was running fine. You're looking at a block replacement at minimum. I'd be suspicious of the pistons. If the clips popped out once, they might again. Be a shame to go through all of this again in a few miles.
 
I've decided to just get a short block. It will cost just a bit mor by the time all is said and done. I've been pricing things out and as much as I would like to disassemble inspect and go through the hassle of the machine shop getting things figured out I just don't have the time. Especially if I want to enjoy driving it soon.
