Can anyone confirm theese numbers off a chevy 350...they are 3970010...can you tell what year it came off of and any other usefll info from this .. Thanks in advance

68-79 year 350 and 327 blocks both 2 bolt and 4 bolt mains used in trucks and performance uses apperently a high nickel content block and one of the stronger blocks to build

The block number is generally too vague to tell you much. You want the block stamping numbers located on the passenger side of the block where the head meets the block. Unless the block has been decked which will remove these stamped numbers, it will tell you the car model, year range, and other info. It may also have a partial VIN number stamped in.

These should help ID just exactly what you have and from where it came.
