I wanted to hear from the Pa guys that might have an antique registration on their car or know someone that does, about applying for one, driving the cars, and sticking to requirements.
My brother bought an 85 vette when I bought the cutlass off of him. He got classic plates for his and said they offered him antiques but stipulated that he couldn't drive at night. He passed, though the not getting inspections tempted him. He said they didn't require pictures either, and his car isn't stock, it has aftermarket exhaust and 18" zo6 wheels from the previous owner. Some people have said about submitting pictures from all angles and everything had to be stock, even wheels.
I was just looking around on craigslist and there was a 71 javelin on there with Pa antique plates, even mentioned in the ad, and it was about at the point my car will eventually be, bigs in the back and littles in the front, chevy engine swapped in, line lock, cage, gutted out, racing seats, etc. I wanted to know if this is something other people do? On Penndot's website it only said about submitting pictures for a collectible car, not a classic or antique.
I am also not required to get emissions in the county I live in, so I wouldn't have to worry about that. Just want to be able to enjoy my car when its done. I would like to do like 50/50 street and track but if Its not going to be worth it to drive it around I would probably rather spend the money on a trailer and make a dedicated track car. Would like to hear input, maybe even from guys in other states if they have similiar rules.

Not sure what your reading. Talked to Joe Fida's notary about my old Datsun. All need 4 pictures Front,Back,Sides. Windows must be up. Must have originally option parts in significant above average condition. Really it all depends on who is looking at it. You get suzi's dad is a manager you can send a picture of a mustang in for a camaro and have the plate. Or you get a dick that pulls the vin decoder out and claims your car had wire wheels and red pinstripe and fail you. For me I kept finding issues dent, primer showing ect and never went through it. Wife's uncle got busted at night doing a burn-out in his 68 roadrunner. Antique plates. Got fined for traditional state inspection due to night driving. Plus got his registration revoked due to loud pipes, tint, tubbed rear end. Plus made the car be towed he had a set of M/T slicks on the back. Not considered on highway use. But he blew a .06 and was a dick to the cop. Once again officers discretion. I'd say make it stock looking then put your trinkets back on and play dumb if someone questions something not factory.

I have a 70 Impala with antique tags. It is completely stock, I have it registered for about 20 years here in PA. The few times I drove it at night was not a problem but maybe I was lucky. I would get classic tags next time because a yearly inspection is not a bad thing, might catch something before its a problem

Most likely that javlin had a antique tag beforehand. Your bothers probably had a kid of a manager looking at it. Honestly its not worth the hype. When you're ready let me know. My best friend has a inspection license.lmao keep it under 5000 miles by swapping out clusters. 😉 BTW Fayette county no air pump ,no kitty no stickers. "Non tamper requirement" in state inspection. My white trash family members up in Normalville cut the clogged cat off my grandmothers old Plymouth Sundance an yup they called it out failed.

Thanks for the responses. I honestly wouldn't even put 3000 miles a year on it. It wouldn't be an enjoyable car to drive for an extended period of time on the street. I'll see what happens. Like I said before I would rather trailer it and just make it a race car if means I won't get a bunch of sh*t.

Just talked to a crew member that bought a 70 ss396 nova last year. They didn't require photos for his classic plates registration either. He lives in northern Pa.

Correct, if it registered as a classic it is a safety only inspection. If registered as a antique no inspection at all. I have a class 7 inspection license.
