I was wondering if anyone has any experience with restoring aluminum rims. I bought a commuter car which I hated the rims. So i bought a set from the junk yard but the clear coat is peeling and such. So I want to clean them up and paint them charcoal grey.

Has anyone used Eastwoods Wheel paint? I have a paint gun and they sell it in quart. Its a ceramic paint. They also have it has rattle can which is acrylic laquer. I think I would be better off using the ceramic paint. http://www.eastwood.com/ew-ceramic-whee ... al-qt.html or http://www.eastwood.com/charcoal-gray-w ... t-set.html The rattle can says it needs to be cleared but the quart doesn't.

Also what do you guys think I would need to do to sand them down?

I helped my buddy paint the rims on his fiance's 03 Eclipse last year. We used Eastwood paint, I cant remember which kind but it was a dark silver and it turned out awesome. Like always the cleaning is the worst part with all the brake dust. We used the spray can type without a clear coat and they still look good. One is scratched up from hitting a curb(women drivers  ) but the others still look good.

soda blasting, or glass media blasting is well worth the money in this case!

i've had no problem with repainting my cutlass wheels with some white rustolium, prep work is key
