The real work begins...now that I have most of the parts. Lately, I've been on a spending spree gathering up parts for the upgrades on my 83 Malibu 4dr. So far the upgrades that I've done include bucket seats out of an S10 (perfect color match and material to the rear seats) and a 36mm TA sway bar. I've recently picked up Corvette C5 calipers and rotors, S10 2" drop spindles, a center console out of a Cutlass, rear calipers and portioning valve out of a Eldorado, quick ratio steering box, complete 4 speed standard setup, 5 speed out of a Firebird, and a rear Monte Carlo SS spoiler. I've already collected adaptor brackets to mount the C5 calipers on the S10 spindles which should bolt on to the Malibu control arms, and the brackets to mount the Eldorado calipers on the stock Malibu rearend (poor man's rear disc). The stock axles will have to be turned down and S10 4x4 rear rotors used. If all goes well the master cylinder and proportioning valve out of the Eldorado should work as far as MC capacity and brake bias. One thing I haven't figure out is if the stock emergency cables will work on the Eldorado calipers. On the Eldorado rear calipers there is a provision for a cable operated rear emergency brake.
I'm sure its not going to be a bolt on affair. Hopefully, I don't encounter too many unforseen problems. Besides that is what Hot Rodding is all about...
