Well me and the old man went out to a local car show event in Boerne, Texas that was hosted by the Corvette Club. Of course he took his 67' Dart and I took my 80' malibu. He put his Dart in the "mopar" class, the only class for chryslers and there weren't too many mopars either so that's probably why.

Then they screwed the chevys over by having 20 different corvette classes, a camaro class, and then an "all other chevy" class. So I got stuck competing against all other high dollar chevy cars. The old man got a trophy and I didn't so needless to say I wasn't too happy.

Nah man sorry. I can tell you right now there were tons of corvettes there, but then again it was a corvette show. The car that beat my dad was a purple 70' Challenger.

Not really. The car owners picked a car from each class they liked and that's how they gave out the awards. Of COURSE its a challenger which is a popular car now with the new ones so its going to garnish more attention. It really had nothing special to it and it wasn't even factory restored.

Meh, I wouldn't sweat it. Most of these small shows are all about who you know.

I agree with you I hate some of the shows that have a bunch of classes but when it comes to 78-88 they have two. Stock or Modified. Technically mine is modified because I have changed more than two things stock, unfortunatly I have to compete with the high dollar cars. BUT in the end I do not really care because I built the car to drive and not to show.

This is the whole reason I gave up on shows long ago. I like my car, some other people may like my car too, but I am not rich enough to have it be perfect or fitted with every single garish thing out of a catalog. Power parking just isn't my thing. I would rather be driving my car than polishing the valve covers, which is why I purposefully left it ugly under the hood. I can fix it like a normal car and not have to worry about polishing every last piece of chrome or billet. I still keep it clean, but not excessively so. I am not afraid to bomb down a dirt road in it for fear of the hours (days?) it would take to clean it up again.

lol, i chromed my engine a tiny bit, but i did build it to drive it!
