I need some help. Can you put in your PCV valve in any valve cover? Does it matter which it goes on? I put on some new valve covers on my oldsmobile 350 and forgot which side the PCV valve was on? I have a 69 Olds 350 rocket.

PCV on passenger side, breather on the drivers side is typical but it doesn't really matter.

They're not necessary but they do provide a beneficial function so it's a good idea to run one.

PCV does not harm the performance of the engine, but without one, blowby through the rings can build up pressure in the lower crankcase, and pop the dipstick (and make a mess), among other issues.
