Pedestal for shifter over bench seat - any pics/ideas?

You can always go with a long handled shifter like a Lokar or something of that sort.

That's what I did. Actually the previous owner had a different floor shifter in it that was a total mess. Couldn't find a gear, was loose and flopped all over the place, linkage collided with the speedometer cable so that was disconnected, and there was no neutral safety switch. I kept the same hole in the floor and fixed all those issues with one unit.

Mine was on a short pedestal for 15 years. I didn't need it as high since mine had bucket seats. But it was a similar design. I had a 3/16" plate welded to the floor for stability, and then welded a tube up with a gusset brace to a second plate that the shifter bolted to. You could not even wiggle the shifter and it was that sturdy.

Mark,
That's more of what I had in mind. That looks good with the bench seat. I'm not loving the raised pedestal over the bench idea.

Stock shifter hit 8-track on 3rd gear shift. Put a Hurst Mo Par bench seat shifter handle on now shifts good.😎

Tom,
That looks cool!
I always liked that look. I had a few friends with Road Runners back in the day, and always liked the bent handle shifters.

Here are a couple of options. The curved neck fixed mount or the Jegs adjustable height pedestal. Could have a piece of tubing bent and rewelded to the shifter plate on the Jeg’s kit to retain the adjustability.

cheers for that ^^^^^^ I had seen the Jegs version and thought the same thing......I'm a little surprised the bench seat guys haven't struck this pedestal issue before. Once you're belted in on the line a shifter on the floor (Hurst Quarter stick) isn't reachable.....
