I saw on another thread that a lot of people recommended the air gap manifold. Which manifold with perform better in my application? Stock bottom end, dart shp heads, .480 cam lift, qjet spread bore on a 350 sbc. What are the differences?

do you mean the rpm and the rpm airgap? they both perform about the same. The air gap breaths just a tad better in the upper range because the plenum wall divider is milled down slightly. it also looks cooler. The difference in power is minimal. i run a rpm non airgap that i have had ported and the plenum wall divider milled down

Also, keep in mind the fact that you are running a spreadbore style carburetor. I don't believe they make a spreadbore RPM/RPM AIRGAP intake  Also, keep in mind, possible hood clearence issues. The RPM intakes have a much taller carburetor mounting flange surface than a factory intake or even a standard Performer intake. Plus, if you keep the spreadbore carburetor, you will have to have an adapter/spacer that is 1" thick

Sorry, I forgot to not that I have a 3in cowl hood ! So is the rpm performer and the rpm airgap the same height? What is the difference in price and will it be worth upgrading to the airgap? And I plan on sticking wkth the spread bore, I just had it rebuilt, and I love the sound ! Here me coming coppers

I think Horsepower TV did a side by side dyno run. Same engine, same conditions, within a couple hours of each other, the only thing they changed was the intake (RPM to RPM Airgap). I think they gained like 2-3hp with the air gap.

Their conclusion, save your money, and go for the regular RPM manifold. If someone is so inclined, they might post a link.

The Airgap is a tiny bit taller than the RPM i beleive, but its so small you may as well call it equal.

If you want spreadbore, you cant use either of these intakes, I beleive they are squarebore only.

They are exactly the same height. it only looks larger. runners are the same exact length. only difference is being open under the plenum and having the little section cut out of the plenum divider wall. i believe the cut only made a difference over 5,000rpm though.

Just to clarify, according to their website, Edelbrock makes a Performer and a Performer Air Gap in a spreadbore design. Edelbrock also makes a spreadbore Performer RPM, but the Performer RPM Air Gap only comes in square bore.

I have run both the Performer (EGR) and the Performer RPM spreadbore manifolds and the RPM was about .12 quicker with no bottom end loss. The RPM is a very tight fit in my 87 Cutlass. I had to massage the center hood support to clear the front radius of the stock LG4 air cleaner.
