I am at the striping point, and purchased the Phoenix Graphics years ago. I just found out about the Stencils and Stripes Kit? Any pointers? I've heard S&S is better? I hate to take the loss on PG, but would. Also any pointers installing these? The guy doing the car is a perfectionist, and is awesome... do you stick these or set them on and get the back side wet with a spray bottle? Please help... I want to finish a perfect job with PERFECT STRIPES... Input is greatly appreciated!
i just finished my 87 442 stripes. Friend and i used 2 drops of joy in a 12 0z sprayer.it took us over 7 hrs to install. we started at the front fender, than back qrt, and doors last. i used phoenix strips, they turned out wonderful. we took a 1/4 inch tape, and used it for guide over the wheel wells.
Leave yourself lots of time so that you don't get tired or rushed. I had a shop do mine as I am not patient enough. PS I like the black and gray hood & rear spoiler. Click my photos if you want to see mine.
Frank that thing is coming along nice. New pics coming? 8)
PG HO stripes are not as good as the Stenciles and Stripes, keep in mind you get what you pay for... go with SS.
Ive decided to just custom make my own using NOS GM stripes to get the correct silkscreen, UV rating ink and form.
Thanks you guys, I'm still debating on what to do... I'll check your pictures, feel free to send them to [email protected]...
I appreciate this more than you know... 30k in this thing, whew...
Check out my 1970 W30, might be for sale soon!
Rebuilt motor perfect! Frame was off the car years ago ,the paint is fresh and original, Seibring Yellow.

30k in your 1970 or your 80s 442?? Just curious....I was just asking myself...How much could I possibly spend reDoing my 85 442....HaHa...Only time will tell.....
30 K in the Hurst Olds, purchase price 4 years ago 16k, paint 5k (easily 10k job), rebuilt motor (myself) and many misc. things... weatherstrip, doors from Desert Valley (they are out of them now I'm sure)... Good luck with yours, I bought this car at the peak point of their values, they are much lower now due to the market. 442, that's been in the family for 30, was a frame off years back, black and gold repaint, now back to original.
I have more in the W30.
She is a beauty...It is a Hurst Olds...I just glanced at it last night...they do seem to command more $$ than the 442s...but if you are building it to enjoy...ya better do it the way you want it...Keep us updated...Thanks

Comment on the stripes from Phoenix Graphics VS Stencils & Stripes.
What is more original in color, the S&S red looks a bit deeper, where my PG look a bit more tomato red.
See picture, the sample stripe is S&S, the red on each side is PG (Cut from my PG kit).
This is going to drive me crazy... I'm sure both will look good.
I'm assuming the red in either decal kit is the same shade of red for all the stripes, correct?
