thank you!!

Sorry about your luck...

You have the often hated 301 Pontiac engine there. Keep the carburetor, distributor, front accessories, starter, and valve covers; throw the rest on the scrap heap.

You MAY be able to sell the 4bbl intake manifold, they are not super common. You can probably eBay it and make a 20 bucks or so. The rest of the engine is not worth keeping.

The tell tale signs are the oil filter sticking straight out of the block and the narrow intake manifold as compared to other Pontiac V8 engines. It shares the common geometery with the 265 Pontiac, but that one wasn't available with a 4 bbl carb.

Now you need to find a junkyard Pontiac V8 and re-use your carb, HEI distributor, and accessories. You basically have been blessed with parts.

!!!

Thank you verry much 🙂 I did'nt bought the motor yet. I told him I was looking on internet first. So, your real positive it's a 301??

I'd agree too. It certainly isn't a Chevy or Olds 350, so run far & fast from this POS!!!

I am certain! I'd take it if it was free, for parts only...

If you're going to run a Pontiac V8, offer to buy the distributor. That big cap HEI is a nice one to have.

nah, I will past on that one 🙂 I have found two more motors a 350 4 bolt main from a chevy pick up and a 350 from a 1982 z-28. What do you think about those one ??

If you have a boat, 301's make awesome anchors!!!

take a close look at the back of the truck 350. if you have the numbers 010 and below that 20 or 020, grab the block. it's a high nickel content motor and one of the strongest ones GM made. the only negative is that it's a flat tappet cam and upgrading to a roller is expensive.

Don't be pickin on the red headed step child of the Pontiac family!

The 301 has it's place, put a cam in it and stuff it in the light car such as a T1000 ( chevette).

Might run in the 13z with no traction shifting at 6000  .
