I have a 87 olds w/ a 307 and 200r4 trans. Car shifts very fast and the car feels like its being held back or like I'm pulling the world on a trailer.iv removed the cat and put flowmasters on.but still runs like that. Iv heard about the y pipes collapsing in on them self does this make any cents.

What do you mean by shifting fast? Just going thru all the gears too quickly?

Who told you an exhaust system can collaps in on itself? That's just silly. Besides, Olds don't have Y pipes anyway, that have the stupid crossover pipe and single downpipe setup.

You need to describe your problem a little better and give us more details. If you're just saying the car seems extra slow, there could be many many reasons why, one of them being that the rollor cam Y code 307's combined with crappy gearing ARE slow!

What I mean is when you floor it you can hear the carb go wide open and hear the car sucking in lots of air but it shifts really quickly. It's like the car wants to go but somethings choking it.

It sounds like it might be a trans prob. Im not sure if a 200r4 has a T.V. cable like a 700r4 does and needs adjusted to shift right .but if the trans is shifting through all the gears way to soon it will feel like it has no power.... im not sure if thats your proplem or not. its hard to say some one else might have a tip or another suggestion.
