The time has come to buy a harmonic balancer for my Pontiac 462. As with anything else, buying new usually means an upgrade.

I'm looking for opinions on the Professional Products vs Pioneer Powerbond. I'm going for one of the street dampers with the etched timing marks....a step up from stock, but not SFI approved. I'm finding that a lot of vendors are buying these from a common supplier and re-naming them, similar to what's been happening to the RPM International connecting rods.

Just curious if there's any horror stories or something to avoid. I see that Butler is selling the Powerbond and I doubt that they would offer them if they were junk.

my crank pulley wouldn't work with a regular pioneer or professional products I had to go with the sfi professional products. then I had to use 2 of the plates from stock balancers for my march pulley to line up. dunno if you will have to do this too.

I had a talk with the machinist that's doing the balancing and I don't think I'll be taking the cheap way out now.

This is off topic, but what headers are you ^^^^ using?

I have 3 sets. headman shorties I modified the collector. doesn't flow very good I also have headman long tubes they are a 3 tube design and only had to modify 2 tubes on driver side. they are ok but I called mark at maddog headers. they have 4 1-3/4 tubes and are long tubes they are very nice but I have not fitted them yet. he custom made them to fit a regal with poncho motor, so I hope they will fit cause I need more flow.

I've heard those are the only ones that have good fitment a g-body. I'm not going too radical with cam selection and I'm using 6X-4 heads, so I'm leaning towards RAIV manifolds myself. I'm a ways from needing those so we shall see!
