Did you do a search on this forum?I got a 79 cuttlass, with a 10 bolt 7.5 rear end what posi can I put in one of these?
If there are no other takers on the 85 Monte rear I might be interested. II don't know where your located but I have a complete rear out of my 85 MC SS you can have if you come get it. It's just sitting in my yard waiting for scrap since I'm using a 9".
I'm located in VA.
We might work on beefing up this 7.5" over time as a gradual spending project with suggestions that are in the other thread in this forum. Other options are either rare and or expensive. We figure as long as we continue running the 235/60-15 BFG TA's on the rear, they will be the fuse IE (wheel spin) and prevent breakage of the 7.5" stuff. The car actually currently has a 3.73 posi from a Monte SS but the clutches are worn. When we got the car it had an open diff 2.41. That is behind the garage on now.Fantastic. I'm glad that some one could use the parts. Great news about how the car ran as well.
from my experience I would put money on the weights in the posi existing thru the diff cover. We might work on beefing up this 7.5" over time as a gradual spending project with suggestions that are in the other thread in this forum. What's weaker? A stock 4L60E from 94 Z28 or the 7.5" rear from a 86 Monte SS? If we pounded the setup, what is likely to break first?
