I know a lot of you guys aren't crazy about the Buttless Cutlass, but I'm really close to potentially getting this car. Like maybe an email away! I can't say I care for the interior, but the aluminum hood, trunk, solid body/frame and hydroboost are really motivating me to scoop this up. I also came across a Century Turbo coupe spolier for $52 shipped to my house if I want it.

My vision for it....after the GP is done obviously....would be either some Olds SSII's, Cragar Eliminator 500's in 17's, a fairly healthy Olds 350/403 or make this one the LS1 swap.

It was probably me. I think I threw it in the "CL thead" a few days ago. The 2 doors have been growing on me lately.

Not yet. I've been going back n' forth with the owner for a few days. I may be trading a few shotguns and some ammo for it but we'll see. I want it because I never see them and it actually doesn't look too bad in black. It's also the ultimate sleeper for those that don't know.

that wouldnt be a bad idea at all, ii know what you mean by a sleeper. put a nice motor and then get a quiet exhaust, thats what my dad did with his old 455 cutty. it has acolum and a bench seat and it was a purple/blue. people thought it was a girls car until he started it haha but it does look good in black. not many people like them because its not a regular 2dr

I think they have potential if you do it right. I like the 442 version but the drivetrains are garbage. I see the LM7 5.3's all day in the $500-$600 range, maybe even the HO version that's rated at another 35hp. I'd like to do a fun budget cruiser with something like this, not a full-on project like my GP. We'll see though when he gets back to me.

deffinetly, those 5.3L are great engines. you can make decnet power without breaking the bank, i hope you get it so all GBF can see what you do with it 8)

If that's what you want, go for it.
They bombed in the market when they were introduced, since the public was more tuned to the formal. opera-window look at the time. I had a Buick Century Sport Coupe years ago and I still miss it because it was so unique. It, too, had a bunch of good pieces, such as aluminum hood, bumpers and deck lid. I bought it with a bad cam and swapped the 305 for a stock 400 SBC.
Ran and handled pretty decent. With the exception of real G-body fans, nobody knows what the hell it is, which I think is cool.
My wife would always borrow it when she would go antique hunting in the Laurel Highlands, because " It runs up the mountains so much better than my Grand Prix".

Even though I was only a 5 y/o in '80, I remember a guy in the neighborhood with a light blue one that had those old basket wire wheels.

I recall reading an article about how bad sales were for these cars. The fact that they're unique and rare makes me want one. I think the key to making it look better is filling up those rear wheel wells. The back just looks too big for the stock 14's.
