i am in the process of installing a 350 in an 81 el camino - the donor was a 79 malibu - i have 5 different brackets left which must be for the power steering and a/c but i can't figure out which brackets to use since they are from both cars and i'm not sure which ones go on which car (i won't be installing the a/c but not sure if i still need the bracket for p/s) does anyone have a closeup pic or diagram of how the power steering was setup on a g body?

any help appreciated

thank you

I have a GM Manual for a 79 Cutlass, I can take a look to see if it has any diagrams that would help you. But I will not be able to get to it until Wednesday night. Hopefully someone has some pictures they can send. If its is a 350, it might not be the g-body accessories, they may be out of what every car the 350 is orginally from.

if you can, post pics of the brackets.

i tihink the original mounted 2 the head on the first exhaust manifold bolt with a stud but wont fit with my headers - think i'll either make one out of what i've got or go aftermarket since my pump was kinda leakin anyway - have seen a few on ebay with a remote reservoir, pump and bracket all included for pretty reasonable

I think your right that one of the brackets bolted to the first exaust manifold stud. You should still be able to use it with the headers. You will just need to make a spacer out of some pipe to go between the Header Flange and the Power steering pump bracket. Then use a longer bolt.

If you can post pictures of the brackets it would be easier to tell you where they go.

Brackets

I Had to cut part of my bracket to make it work with my headers and you will have to use a spacer a small peice of pipe work very well find a peice that the bolt will just pass through and you might have to get a longer bolt but make sure its a grade 8
