Hi,

I just installed a new power steering pump and the rack off another car.
I can tell which hoses go where on the back of the pump because the hook-ups are different but I don't know which line goes to which hole on the rack.

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks.

A picture would be good.
If someone could snap a picture of their steering pump hose set up I would appreciate it.
You can email it to me at jcowan(at)delawana.com
Thanks.

I think I figured it out but seriously, no one could take a picture for me?
I know I was calling the gears a rack but I'm sure someone knew what I was talking about.
The lines only fit one way. I was also hoping to get a view of the routing.

Open the hood, stand in front of the car looking down, the high pressure(thicker line) screws onto the left and the return line screws onto the right of the steering box.

I got a picture for you, the high pressure hose is circled in red and the return hose (which I had to make shift because the old aluminum part of the hose snapped) is circled in blue. Hope that helps

Thanks guys,

I appreciate the help. I bought the high pressure line but it didn't look right because of how it had to bend and twist to fit into place.
Whatever, it is working so we are good.

no problem man, like they say necessity is the mother of invention

Just a question: how did you remove that pressure line? I'm in the process of replacing mine but the bolts on each end are really tight. Any tips on how I can get some more leverage in that tight space?

The line came out of the gear end without too much trouble. It was a PITA to get it out of the pump and why I bought a new line.
I ended up taking the outside nut out and I removed the inner nut on my bench vice.

Make sure you have the correct wrenches or you will just strip the nuts. Flare wrenches I think they are called.
