Does anyone here know which year that GM changed the fittings on the power steering lines from the flared ends to the ends with the O-ring type seals? I believe that it was either 1980 or 1981, but I'm not exactly sure which year. Thanks in advance.

I'm not 100% certain, it could have been '81.
Are you looking to change out the steering box on the '80?
That's the idea Jack. I have a Monte SS steering box that I'd like to put on the car, but I'm not sure about mixing & matching the fittings.

There is brass bushings, or adapters available to be able to use the older style flared ended hoses. http://www.hellotrade.com/lee-manufacturing-company/lee-power-steering-adapter-kit.html
I believe you can purchase the bushings and installation tool separately minus the rag joint.
One of our members had purchased them some time ago, less rag joint.
