Yes you need the master switch in order for the motors to both work. It's a loop circuit and it needs both switches and motors to work properly.

Thanks. I bought a new switch at the parts store, grounded the wire in the door, and both switches work.

Now I have to cut a hole in the door panel to mount the switch.
