I have a 1978 ish Monte Carlo dirt race car with a chevy 350, it didn't have a power steering pump, I bought a used Saginaw pump but it didn't have the mounting brackets, I bought a bracket set from JEGS and installed it to the pump and mounted it to the engine block, but now the pulley does not line up to the other pulleys, it looks like its about a 1/2 inch too far out. What is wrong?

Is it possible you have a short water pump and pulleys on the engine and the bracket for the power steering pump is for a long water pump?

The one I order was for a short water pump, I called the guy I bought it from and he told me that it is supposed to mount to the head, and not the engine block. so I am going to try that, how do I know I am ordering the right part? Ive been on several web sights ie; summit, JEGS and there are so many it can get confusing. is there anything that i can reference from?

Can you post some pictures of your set up showing the alignment of the pulleys and list a part number for your Jegs bracket if you can.
