EDIT, UPDATES ON PAGE 2 WOOT.

well a while back, I was selling my 86 SS, my cutlass and my 81 monte carlo.

Well lucky for me, my father bought them all from me for a cut throat price.

Anyways hes been tooling a little bit on the 86, and I keep looking at it, and I want it back. He was planning on selling it for more than I sold it to him for, which dosent bother me, i gave him a deal and it helped me out.

Anyways long story short, I need to park my honda for maitnence, bushings n such. I really need to grab a 4x4 for winter, but I want my old monte back.

I know this is a bias forum, but its also full of other adults, so what would you do?

Get a 4x4 for winter so that I can actually navigate thru blizzards in the snow belt, or buy back the monte carlo and try to hunt down a beater for winter and just suffer?

Driving the honda in winter isnt an option, I've grown attached and they rust out from rain haha.

Well if your dad bought it it's not going anywhere... just ask him not to sell it before next spring/summer and buy it back then

I'd sell the Honda and buy a 4x4. The Monte is still in the family and if you ask really nice I'm sure he'll hold it for you til next spring. Maybe he'll let you drive it some this year!

#1 Junk the Honda. Sounds like it needs some work...

#2 Get yourself a decent 4x4 to get around in the winter months.

#3 When you got some extra $$, go talk to pops and get that car back, or see if you can make him some payments at 0% interest to get the Monte!

Buy back your Monte and get a set of NOKIAN tires for it.

I have a set on my Malibu. But you would need some 15" rims because they don't come in a 14" any more. Just get some 15" steelies from a junk yard. I had no problems last winter (and I live in Canada lol), in fact, I could pull away from a lot of FWD cars and SUVs at the lights. The only time I got stuck was because I got forced into a snow drift. But it only took a small push (by hand) to get going again.

But IDK if the tires alone did it. I also have limited slip, and the anti hop bars. I think the whole combo is what made my car so good in the snow.

i would put snows on the monte, but they use more salt in ny on the roads, than mcdonalds uses world wide on frys.

hes selling the car like end of story, wants/ needs money so i cant get him to hold it 🙁

hondas worth atleast 1200$, so junking it for 50$ is worthless.
It needs bushings in the front suspension and some rust repair, a while back i bought complete front suspension, uppers, lowers n tie rods new, for 225. i just need to park it and do the work, inorder to continue driving it and get 40+mpg city, in the future.

I really want the monte back, ever since i sold my first monte years ago, ive kicked myself.
