Hey guys.

Well, my friend is selling his wheels. They're aftermarket ones. They're 16's though unfortunately. They're too small for my 04 Monte SS, but might be just fine for my GP, since the GP has stock 14's. However, the problem is that the wheels were on a FWD (obviously) Taurus. A 99 or something. I wasn't sure if the aftermarket ones would bolt onto the RWD GP. I didn't know if you couldn't transfer FWD wheels to RWD and/or vice-versa. I wasn't sure about the back spacing and stuff. But if they will work, I might get them since the GP needs tires anyway.

So a quick simple yes or no would be extremely well appreciated!

Thanks!

My first thought would be that the bolt pattern on a Ford would be different then a GP. Then there is the question of clearance on calipers, depending on the offset. I wouldn't buy them unless I could try them on, and spin the wheel, while the car is still jacked up.

My first though would be no they won't work, but then again I managed to fit a set of American Racing wheels from a Toyota, on an 87 Pontiac 6000, so go figure.

Well I just figured they'd work because most of the american "mid-size-vehicles" feature 5 lug wheels and I thin kthat alot of them are the same bolt pattern. The only thing was the RWD. My 89 DeVille had the same bolt pattern as my 04 Monte SS. But I don't know. I mean, I could go size them on with no sweat, but the car is 30 minutes away, at my grandparents. So it's like 10 bucks to drive it here and back. lol...

🙁

The Ford bolt pattern is most likely going to be 5X4.5 whereas %99 of GM's are 5X4.75. And I've never seen FWD rims that could go on a RWD car, the backspacing is competely different.

From my research, it seemed like the Taurus was 5x108 and the GM FWD (my Monte) is 5x115. All of the FWD GM's are that. Now the issue with the backspacing, I wasn't aware of fully. But I kinda thought so... But thanks!

average....have you ever seen a FWD with wheels that stick half way out of the fenders?....thats a FWD with RWD wheels on it. The FWD wheels won't fit a RWD because of the backspace.

Yeah, I was kinda thinkin' that bacause of the "dish" on the factory wheels on the G-bodys. But it's all good. Maybe I'll just force my girlfriends dad to get new wheels so I can get his WS6 ones from his Trans Am.
